The Kensington Street and Spice Alley developments by Greencliff have created a vibrant east street destination in 'downtown' Sydney.
Our involvement in crafting the public domain setting of narrow laneways and culinary courtyards hinged on the adaptive re-use of the Clare Hotel, the original Carlton United Brewery administration building, and a series of old 1840's worker cottages. The heritage character of the retained buildings framed and informed the public domain design which employed a rich tapestry of Elizabethan, quilted, herringbone pavement overlain by ornate urban furniture reflecting the heritage building character and establishing a sophisticate and timeless urban expression.
